AMALGAM 2014

Amalgam (2014) explores the relationships between the organic and inorganic, within the realms of our physiology and the materiality of the photograph. The series comprises of both contact and enlargement prints of a variety of anatomical structures and materials associated with contemporary body repair.

Each image is primarily digital, and is then transformed into a C-type after a sequence of manipulations, exploring the relationships and materiality of the digital and traditional photographic. Cutwork, derived from microscopic views of the body, reveal the cold steelwork beneath the fragile semi-organic exteriors. The series is an aesthetic journey into the amalgamation of digital and biological bodies within the art of repair and biofabrication.
